Maestro Ralph Towner is still going strong in his compositions..having a such exceptional body of work as solo artist and a leader of Oregon..a jazz enesemble..and working with various artists in their own right ! May his body of work live long..to be an inspiration to those to come in his orbit !
Probably the best composer and player in his field on the planet, like Jeff Beck, Ralph gets better with age ....and show no sign of slowing down either, lets hope hes with us for many more years to come.
no one else walking the face of this earth can create sounds and express themselves musically quite like Ralph does.. and his compositions are incredible.. he is truly a gifted and anointed artist..
Compliments are"a dime a dozen";but your comment is worth a million! The song"Anthem" is so hard to play, let alone capture any beauty in a solo setting! Here is one of the finest live versions I have heard!.
On this first listen I heard a virtuosity in the most subtle and complex rhythmic and tonal areas of play. The musician says unutterable things, unutterable off the charts language that is also steeped in the greatest blend of tension and resolution, sometimes giving that a-ha moment ; other earlier Towner is virtuosity in its own right, but here the fully matured guitar master delivers 2 areas that gave me this feeling : at 20:00 there is a moment, and I must search back for the other. I have this 20:00 on loop just because its like alchemical mastery - that moment - Here Towner is fully expressing the highest peaks and acmes of virtuosity, of music theory, of the most complex areas of music, of the archetypes of our own human selves listening to this music.
Extremely intriguing, Ralph is still discovering fresh combinations of notes on this ancient instrument. Just like his idol Evans, his music reeks of RUBATO. Not metronomic, but full of feeling, like a human heart.

Astoundng at all levels, in all ways. A treasure of American music, a cosmopolitan artist and gift to the world.

Face it he not a master ,it mobo jombo
As John Abercrombie once has stated, Ralphs compositions deserve to be stored at a special place in America. Happy Birthday Ralph !
An amazing virtuoso- his music has inspired me for decades
One of the greatest solo guitarist alive .
He is one and only. Nobody plays guitar like him.
Somehow Ralph has a guitar that translates sunlight into music. How fortunate for all of us.

A world treasure.
Can't believe I started listening to Ralph in 1980. The first album I listen to Solo Concert. It's 2023 and this concert from 2020 still amazes me.
First time I heard Ralph was on the 1975 Oregon LP "In Concert". Still one of my favorites. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Concert_(Oregon_album)
Immortale !!! Qualità audio-video eccezionale! Tecnica sopraffina! Numero 1 assoluto !
I'm so happy to see that this Master is still playing, as recent as this date

It is so great performance by Ralph! I've already listened to it for about 15 times. And I can't stop.
Great to see Ralph Towner still playing so beautifully -
Lo mejor que he escuchado en mi vida
Ralph, like a gentle impish medieval monk swimming in the love of God.
